The Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program produces estimates of civilian labor force, total employment, unemployment, and unemployment rates by place of residence. Monthly tables include estimates for the current month, previous month and the current month a year ago. Annual tables include both monthly data and calendar year averages. Seasonally adjusted estimates are available for the state and selected sub-state areas.
Geographic Coverage: Statewide, all Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), all counties, and cities with populations over 25,000.
Frequency: Monthly and Annually
Technical Note: The Local Area Unemployment Statistics 2015 redesign was introduced with the January 2015 estimates. For all substate areas except Miami, the historical data were revised back to 1990 and the new methodology was introduced only back to 2010. Hence, many areas can be expected to display breaks in series between 2009 and 2010.
