TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced the Fort Lauderdale area March 2020 Employment Data. This month, Florida saw expected changes in employment and unemployment data due to COVID-19 and the state’s effort to mitigate the spread.
Fort Lauderdale Area Economic Indicators Include:
- Unemployment rate was 4.2 percent, up 1.1 percentage points from one year ago.
- 2,100 new private-sector jobs have been added in the past year.
- Industries with the highest growth over the year in the Fort Lauderdale area were
- professional and business services with 4,900 new jobs; and
- trade, transportation and utilities with 4,500 new jobs.
