The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Announces the Orlando Area March 2020 Employment Data

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced the Orlando area March 2020 Employment Data. This month, Florida saw expected changes in employment and unemployment data due to COVID-19 and the state’s effort to mitigate the spread.

Orlando Area Economic Indicators Include:

  • Unemployment rate was 4.2 percent, up 1.1 percentage points from one year ago.
  • 19,100 new private-sector jobs have been added in the past year.
  • Industries with the highest growth over the year in the Orlando area were
  • education and health services with 8,200 new jobs; and
  • construction with 5,900 new jobs.
