• How is the benefit calculated?

  • RTAA payments are half the difference between the old wage and the new wage.
    • Example: Old Wage = $20/hour, New Wage = $15/hour, Difference = $5/hour, RTAA = $2.50/hour

• What is the maximum time limit or financial limit for Reemployment Trade Adjustment Assistance (RTAA)?

  • Two years or $10,000, whichever comes first.

• What if the participant has received Trade Readjustment Assistance (TRA) benefits?

  • TRA benefits will be subtracted from the RTAA two-year or $10,000 maximum.

• Can a RTAA-eligible participant be employed, in TAA-approved training, and collect RTAA benefits?

  • Yes, if the participant is working at least 20 hours per week.

• Once a participant has collected RTAA benefits, can he or she elect Trade Readjustment Assistance (TRA) benefits?

  • No, eligibility for TRA was forfeited.

• Once a participant has collected RTAA benefits, can he or she utilize the health coverage tax credit?

  • Yes, the participant remains eligible for HCTC.
