Rebuild Florida Hurricane Sally Workforce Recovery Training Program

The Florida Department of Commerce (FloridaCommerce) Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program (WRTP) was launched with $5 million in funding allocated to local workforce development boards, educational institutions, and technical centers located in the communities most impacted by Hurricane Sally. The Rebuild Florida WRTP is designed to train Floridians in communities impacted by Hurricane Sally in trades necessary to support disaster recovery efforts.

Eligible Areas

The Rebuild Florida Workforce Recovery Training Program makes funds available to local workforce development boards, school districts, higher educational institutions and technical centers serving the five counties designated by the state of Florida and by the United States' Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as being the Most Impacted and Distressed (MID). Eligible counties include:

  • Escambia County (HUD)
  • Santa Rosa County (HUD)
  • Okaloosa County (State)
  • Walton County (State)
  • Bay County (State)

Hurricane Sally Most Impacted and Distressed Areas. HUD designated MID areas: Escambia County, Santa Rosa County. State designated MID areas: Okaloosa County, Walton County, Bay County

Eligible Activities

  • Launch or expand training programs for construction trades, including roofing, masonry, carpentry, concrete finishing, plumbing, HVAC, electricity, heavy equipment operations, floor installation, window installation, plastering, welding and more.
  • Administering customized training programs tailored to the specific economic revitalization needs of the community.

How to Apply

Those interested in applying can register for a unique WRTP application link. You will be asked preliminary questions in order to register for applying to the program. Once you have successfully registered through the application portal, a unique application link will be sent to the email address provided.
