Program Description

With funding from the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service, the Florida Department of Commerce administers the Jobs for Veterans’ State Grant program in coordination with Florida’s 24 Local Workforce Development Boards.

The Jobs for Veterans’ State Grant provides funding to support the staffing of Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program Specialists, Local Veterans’ Employment Representatives, and Consolidated Positions throughout the CareerSource Florida Career Center Network.

The Jobs for Veterans’ State Grant also supports the State Veterans’ Program Office which is comprised of the State Veterans Program Coordinator, Regional Veterans Program Coordinators, and Intensive Service Coordinators.  The State Veterans’ Program Office ensures consistency and excellence in program service delivery through the provision of technical assistance, policy, training and monitoring.

Program Mission

Florida’s Jobs for Veterans’ State Grant program prepares veterans, transitioning service members, and eligible spouses for meaningful careers.  The program offers eligible persons employment services delivered through the case management framework with an empathetic approach and a veteran’s perspective. 

Eligible individuals work with a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist to develop a proactive employment plan and are connected to career center and community resources, as necessary, to break down barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment.  Work ready veterans are marketed to employers in the community through individualized advocacy and job development activities by Local Veteran Employment Representative staff.  

The program referenced by this webpage is paid for by 100% federal funds through a grant totaling $10,735,878.
