UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION SPECIAL PROGRAMS

 

Disaster Unemployment Assistance
If you have been working or residing in an officially declared disaster area and are now unemployed as a result of the disaster, you may be eligible for Unemployment Compensation Benefits or Disaster Unemployment Assistance.

Short Time Compensation for Information for Employees
A special claims program that pays partial benefits to groups of employees working reduced hours.  Employers may elect to participate in this program to retain valued employees by reducing hours for an entire group of employees instead of resorting to temporary layoffs.

Trade Readjustment Assistance -- Training Assistance Allowance
Assistance for workers who have been totally or partially separated from their jobs because of increased foreign imports. The Training Assistance Allowance program can provide benefits associated with training, job search, relocation allowances, and other reemployment services. Trade Readjustment Assistance can provide weekly cash benefits.

 

Unemployment Compensation for Ex-Service Members

5 U.S.C. CH. 85 provides for the payment of unemployment compensation for former members of the Armed Forces (ex-service members), referred to as UCX claims, and provides that federal military service and wages are to be treated as though they had been included under each state’s unemployment compensation law.


Compensation under the UCX program is paid by each state’s Employment Security agencies in accordance with agreements between the states and the Secretary of Labor. Claims are taken in accordance with the Florida Unemployment Compensation Law and Regulations.

Unemployment Compensation to Federal Civilian Employees

5 U.S.C. CH. 85 provides for the payment of unemployment compensation to federal civilian employees who are unemployed. The Law covers all civilian employees of the United States or instrumentalities wholly or partially owned by the United States, with certain specified exceptions. This program is referred to as UCFE.


Compensation under the UCFE program is paid by state employment security agencies in accordance with agreements between the states and the Secretary of Labor. Federal civilian service and wages are assigned to the state of the employee’s last official station with certain exceptions, and are to be treated as though they were included under that states unemployment compensation law. Claims are taken in accordance the the Florida Unemployment Law and Regulations.
