The construction industry is vital to the economic health of the State of Florida, both to support our state’s continued growth and also to aid in the recovery of our communities from the damage of two devastating hurricane seasons. Florida, with unemployment at record low levels and a booming economy that continues to create new jobs, faces specific difficulties in meeting the demand for workers at all skill levels in the construction industry. On December 13, 2005, the Governor's office announced the creation of Florida reBuilds, an initiative to bridge to gap in the construction industry job market and keep Florida in the economic forefront among our sister states and on the road to hurricane recovery. Florida reBuilds is designed to provide short-term entry level and advanced training for Floridians who want to enter the construction industry and assist those who want to improve their skills and move up career ladders. |
