If through an assessment process it is determined that you are in need of retraining in order to return to work in the area in which you reside or another area, a variety of retraining services are available at no cost to you. New jobs that are becoming available require that workers have more education and skills training. regional workforce board offices may be able to assist you in getting the retraining that is necessary to prepare you for a job.

Occupational/Skill Training - This training is available through both public (technical institutes) and proprietary training providers. Courses may be short term (several months) or long term (12-24 months) and are generally conducted in classroom settings.

Basic/Remedial Education/GED Preparation and Testing - Brushing up on basic skills (math, reading, etc.) which you have not used in a long time may be all that is necessary to get another job. Similarly, getting a GED certificate (high school equivalency) may be sufficient to obtain that new job. Either of these services may make you more competitive in today's more technically oriented job market.

On-the-Job Training - "OJT" is training received while actually working on a job and earning a wage. OJT is used in situations where classroom training may not be as necessary. A variety of occupations can be learned through OJT.

Customized Training - This type of training is designed to meet the specific needs of an employer (s) and may be conducted using a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training.
Today's job market is very competitive and services offered through Florida's Worker Adjustment Program are designed specifically to assist you, the dislocated worker, in returning to work as quickly as possible. You are encouraged to take advantage of all that is available to you.
