Labor Market Statistics - Information on employment opportunities in your area, other areas of the state or in other states is available. Specific information on which occupations are in demand, which are growing or projected to grow, average starting salaries, etc. is available.

Job Search Workshop - A 4-5 hour workshop designed to better prepare you for your work search is a must. Topics include interviewing skills, employer expectations, skills identification (including identifying transferable skills), resume preparation and more. Up to date information is provided that will help you find a job in today's more competitive job market.

Assessment and Employment Counseling - These services will help you identify skills and aptitudes that you have and how they may transfer to other occupational areas. Department staff can discuss the possibility of changing occupations with or without training.

Out-of-Area Job Search - If you cannot find a job within your commuting area (25 miles one way or the distance previously traveled to your job, whichever is greater) and desire to seek employment outside that area, financial assistance may be available to pay some of the costs involved in searching for work in another area. Financial assistance may be available to help with the cost of mileage, meals and lodging. Financial assistance is contingent upon availability of funds and locally developed policies and procedures. However, you MUST visit a regional workforce board service providers/one stop centers in person BEFORE going out of the area to search for work. Staff must approve out-of-area job search BEFORE you leave. During that visit, you MUST state your intention of conducting out-of-area job search.
NOTICE: Once you have returned from the job interview (s) you should submit original receipts to the Department as soon as possible for reimbursement. More than one trip may be made in your search for employment. However, the regional workforce board must approve each trip and the maximum amount each individual is allowed to receive.

Relocation Allowance - If you have located a job in an area outside your commuting area (25 miles one way or the distance previously traveled to work, whichever is greater) you may be eligible for relocation assistance. Financial assistance may be available to help pay costs associated with moving to a new location. Financial assistance is contingent upon availability of funds and locally developed policies and procedures. You MUST visit the regional workforce board service providers/one stop centers in person BEFORE moving. At that visit, you MUST state your intention of relocating. Staff will process the necessary forms and approve the relocation assistance if all criteria are met. Once the relocation has occurred, original receipts should be submitted to the Field Services Office as soon as possible. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU MUST APPLY FOR OUT-OF-AREA JOB SEARCH AND RELOCATION ASSISTANCE BEFORE UNDERTAKING EITHER OF THESE ACTIVITIES. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN REQUESTS FOR REIMBURSEMENT BEING DENIED.

Unemployment Insurance - Individuals who are unemployed through no fault of their own may be eligible for unemployment insurance. Individuals may file for unemployment benefits at any One-Stop Employment Center/Local Office. The amount of weekly benefits and the number of weeks you are eligible to receive these benefits will be calculated for you when you file your claim. If you are enrolled in training approved by the Agency for Workforce Innovation, you may be granted a "claimant trainee" status which may allow you to receive unemployment insurance while attending training. There are certain requirements which must be met, and you must request approval at one of our field services offices. More specific information regarding unemployment insurance and claimant trainee status can be obtained by contacting any One-Stop Employment Center/Local Office.
