If you wish to file for Trade Readjustment Allowance benefits you must answer the preliminary questions listed below.

  1. Have you worked for a Worker Adjustment Assistance approved company or firm that has lost work or services as a result of foreign trade?

    • If Yes, proceed to question #2.
If No, you are not eligible for Trade Readjustment Allowance. 
File a regular reemployment assistance claim
  1. Has your employer filed and been approved for Worker Adjustment Assistance?

    • If Yes, proceed to question #3.
If No, your employer must first file a Petition with the U.S. Department of Labor.
  1. Was your reason for separation from the trade-affected employer due to lack of work?

    • If Yes, proceed to question #4.
If No, you are not able to file for Trade Readjustment Allowance at this time.
File a regular reemployment assistance claim
  1. Have you worked with the affected employer at least 26 (with wages of $30 or more a week) of the last 52 weeks prior to your layoff from the trade-affected employer?

    • If Yes, proceed to question #5.
If No, you are not able to file for Trade Readjustment Allowance at this time. You must have worked at least 26 weeks (at wages of $30 or more a week) in a job impacted by trade with a single company or subdivision in the year prior to the week of your separation to be eligible.
File a regular reemployment assistance claim
  1. Did your separation occur either on or after the ‘Impact Date’?

    • If Yes, proceed to question #6.
If No, you are not able to file for Trade Readjustment Allowance at this time. To qualify for Trade Readjustment Allowances you must be laid off on or after the impact date and before the ending date of the certification.
File a regular reemployment assistance claim
  1. Since your layoff from the trade-affected employer, have you filed for and been entitled to reemployment assistance?

    • If Yes, fill out the online Pre-screening form  to receive a Trade Readjustment Allowances information packet.
If No, you are not able to file for Trade Readjustment Allowances at this time.
