The Office of Economic Accountability and Transparency was established in 2021, following the passage of HB 1463. The Office, which is led by the Director of Economic Accountability and Transparency and is located in the Office of the Secretary, is charged with ensuring key objectives are clearly communicated to the public, as well as organizing departmental resources, expertise, data, and research to focus on and solve the complex economic challenges facing the state. This provides Florida’s workforce, businesses, and communities with the resources and opportunities to succeed and prosper to advance Florida’s economy.

The roles and responsibilities of the Office of Economic Accountability and Transparency include:

  • Provide leadership for the Department’s priority issues that require integration of policy, management, and critical objectives from multiple programs and organizations internal and external to the Department;
  • Organize and manage external communication on such priority issues;
  • Promote and facilitate key Department initiatives to address priority economic issues and explore data and identify opportunities for innovative approaches to address such economic issues; and
  • Promote strategic planning for the Department.
