Gov. Scott: Bay State Cable Ties Expansion to Create 40 New Jobs in Okaloosa County

Sep 24, 2015

CRESTVIEW, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that Bay State Cable Ties (BSCT) will expand in Okaloosa County and create 40 new jobs. The expansion will also have a more than $16 million capital investment in the local community. BSCT is a full line manufacturer of specialty cable ties and currently has 97 Florida employees.

Governor Scott said, “I am excited to announce that Bay State Cable Ties will be creating 40 new jobs for families in Crestview. While Bay State Cable Ties considered relocating to other states like Alabama and Georgia, they ultimately chose to expand in Florida because Bay State Cable Ties knows Florida is the best place for their business. Enterprise Florida is crucial to retaining and welcoming successful businesses like Bay State Cable Ties to Florida, which is why we must fully fund EFI.”

Robert Sires, Owner and CEO said, “It is a privilege and honor to have the support of Governor Scott here at Bay State Cable Ties. When I made the decision to locate to Florida in 2004, I had high hopes and expectations of Florida. Building and training a strong management team, employing great employees as well as gaining the trust and business of many of the nation’s largest users of cable ties has been nothing short of miraculous. What you see today is a direct result of a strong government and private business partnership made possible by Governor Scott, Enterprise Florida, the EDC of Okaloosa County, Career Source Okaloosa Walton, and local officials. Our company looks forward to experiencing continued success and growth in Florida.”

Founded in 1998 in Massachusetts, the company relocated to a new facility in Crestview, Florida in 2004. BSCT runs a 24/7 automated molding facility and is a distributor focused company with a patented EZ-off Design. The expanded facility will increase the company’s footprint by 20,000 SF.

“Bay State is proof positive that America, Florida and even Okaloosa County can be competitive in an increasingly globalized manufacturing market. We are proud that Bay State calls Okaloosa County home and are excited to help support the company's growth and continued success,” said Nathan Boyles, Chairman of the Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners.

Bill Johnson, Enterprise Florida president and CEO said, “Manufacturing is vital to Florida’s economy, and Bay State Cable’s expansion in Northwest Florida and their creation of 40 new jobs is great news both for that community and the state as a whole.  We must continue to diversify our economy, and companies like Bay State Cable Ties are helping us do that. I look forward to working with the legislature to ensure Enterprise Florida has the resources necessary to continue to keep companies like Bay State Cable Ties in Florida and create more jobs for Floridians.”

The project was made possible through strong partnerships between Enterprise Florida, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Okaloosa County, and the Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County.

Department of Economic Opportunity Executive Director Jesse Panuccio said, “Bay State Cable Ties’ decision to remain and expand in Crestview is more evidence that the pro-growth policies of the Scott Administration are working in Florida. Thanks to our business-friendly climate, forty more hard-working Floridians will be gainfully employed in Okaloosa County in the coming years.”

“As a successful manufacturer, Bay State Cable Ties had their pick of locations to consider for this project.  Fortunately, Okaloosa County’s continued commitment to job creation through programs like the Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption – and innovative partnerships with Enterprise Florida and CareerSource Okaloosa-Walton – resulted in a positive outcome for our area,” said Nathan Sparks, Executive Director of the Economic Development Council of Okaloosa County.
