Florida Job Demand Remains High In May

Jun 08, 2015

TALLAHASSEE - The number of online job openings in Florida were up over the year in May 2015, with a total of 283,949 unique openings (seasonally adjusted), according to data released by The Conference Board’s Help Wanted OnLine.  These figures from Help Wanted OnLine are the highest May for job demand in the data series, which began in May 2005.

Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Executive Director Jesse Panuccio said, “Every job opening represents an opportunity for Florida families, and this continued high job demand is an encouraging indication of the health of Florida’s economy. Our goal in the Scott Administration is for any Floridian who wants a job to be able to get a job.”

Job demand in Florida increased over the year by 20,548 openings, up 7.8 percent.  Major occupational groups with the most online ads in May were healthcare practitioners and technical occupations, sales and related occupations, office and administrative support occupations, and computer and mathematical occupations.  Online job demand was highest in the large metro cities, led by Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Fort Lauderdale.
