TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, during a meeting of the Florida Cabinet, Governor Rick Scott recognized Joe Sleppy, 21, with the Young Entrepreneur Award. Joe is the Co-Founder and CEO of Capacitech Energy, a technology company focused on helping power electronics manufacturing companies reduce the size and cost of their products. Capacitech Energy was founded in January of 2016 and is based in Orlando.

Governor Scott said, “I’m proud to recognize Joe with the Young Entrepreneur Award today. It’s exciting to see a young entrepreneur pursue his passion for technology and build a small business in Florida. Joe’s hard work and dedication lands him on the path for continued growth and future success.”

Co-Founder and CEO of Capacitech Joe Sleppy said, “It’s an honor to be recognized with the Governor’s Young Entrepreneur Award. I’m incredibly grateful to have the support of the University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program, the surrounding community, my mentors, and my co-founder, Dr. Jayan Thomas as we work to commercialize a customizable super capacitor built on the surface of copper wires. I’m excited to see the impact Capacitech makes on our customers and the future impact we’ll have on the clean-tech markets as we scale our technology.”
