DEO's Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day Event

May 07, 2013

On April 25, 2013, DEO welcomed approximately 300 children and parents to the Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day event. Throughout the day, attendees participated in interactive exhibits from 15 educational institutions, organizations, and state agencies each highlighting the importance of education and growing employment fields. The Governor's goal is to make Florida the number one place in the world to create, move or expand a business, by fostering a climate that promotes economic development and job creation. Ensuring we have the best workforce for many years to come is essential to achieving the Governor’s goal. Today’s students are the future of our workforce and it is vital to show them the value of education and the career options available to them. Florida is a diverse state, unlike any other place in the world, with career opportunities in tourism, agriculture, health, technology, trade, business, and many more. There were so many great professionals at the event helping our students realize their dreams and potential. Thank you to the parents, caregivers and mentors who showed their commitment by sharing their workplace with the children. A big thank you to all of the organizations for coming out to the event and encouraging kids to set goals and work hard to achieve them.
