Benefits are a taxable income. You can elect to withhold 10% of your weekly benefit income to cover your taxes due to the IRS. This can be handled after logging into your claim under “View and Maintain Account Information” and selecting “Payment Method and Tax Withholding Options.”
The 1099-G is the tax form the department issues in January for the purposes of filing your taxes. The 1099-G will detail the amount of benefits paid to you during a specific year as well as any amounts withheld and paid to the IRS. They are made available by January 31st for the prior tax year.
The form 49T is a receipt of repayment that provides the amount paid to a Reemployment Assistance Overpayment in a specific tax year. You can log into CONNECT and click on “My 1099G/49T” to view and print the forms. They are made available by February 28th for the prior tax year.
