How is Employ Florida Vets different from Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM) at employflorida.com?
The Veterans’ Web Portal is a function of the Employ Florida Marketplace website and is tailored specifically to the needs and interests of the veteran.
Employ Florida Vets provides information about veteran employment programs, veterans’ priority of services, veteran training and education programs, and general non-employment service providers who support veterans.
Who can use Employ Florida Vets?
Anyone may use the veterans’ web portal to gain access to information and veteran resources, but only veterans and eligible spouses may receive the full benefit of the employment services offered by the veterans’ employment staff at the local One-Stop Career Centers where these services are offered.
What is a Military Occupational Specialty Code?
This is a code that represents the employment classification for the specialty/job that the military veteran performed while on active duty.
How does the website use the Military Occupational Specialty Code to link veterans with jobs that might be a good fit?
The Military Occupational Specialty Code function on the veterans’ web portal assists veterans in translating their active duty experiences and skills into civilian professions to assist in their job searches.
Does a veteran need to register with both Employ Florida Vets and employflorida.com?
While the veterans’ web portal does not require a registration, the veteran would need to register on employflorida.com to access the portal’s full benefits. The registration provides access to the complete job listings on EFM, and allows employers to find the veteran’s resume and other pertinent information.
If I go into a One-Stop, will the veterans’ representative help me register on Employ Florida Vets?
Yes, and veterans will receive priority assistance from any available One-Stop staff member. If the veteran desires, he or she may request to speak to a veterans’ employment representative for assistance.
What information do I need to have handy for the registration process?
Along with their personal information, such as their home address, Social Security number and e-mail address to register in EFM, veterans will be asked a few questions about their service history and discharge rating.
How am I notified of potential job matches, and how often?
Once registered in EFM, a veteran will be contacted by One-Stop Career Center staff who are conducting job searches for veterans, receive automatic notifications of job announcements matching their skills and abilities and/or be contacted directly by employers who are looking for applicants with the veterans’ skills and abilities. Veterans may also proactively search for jobs on Employ Florida Vets.
The frequency of job notifications will depend on how often jobs fitting the veteran’s skills and abilities become available.
