• How am I notified of potential job matches, and how often?

  There are two different ways to receive notifications of potential job matches.  Once you have registered in Employ Florida and are working with an employment specialist or veterans representative at your local CareerSource, you will decide what types of jobs you would like to be referred to you, and how often.  You will be contacted by phone, text, or email.  The second way to receive potential job matches is using the virtual recruiter feature inside Employ Florida.  You can tailor your job search by: job type, miles from residence, wage, frequency of search and how you will receive the searches.
  
  Veterans may also proactively search for jobs on Employ Florida.
  
  

• How does the website use the Military Occupational Specialty Code to link veterans with jobs that might be a good fit?

  The Military Occupational Specialty Code function on the veterans' web portal assists veterans in translating their active duty experiences and skills into civilian professions to assist in their job searches.

• What information do I need to have handy for the registration process?

  Along with their personal information, such as their home address, Social Security number and e-mail address to register in Employ Florida, veterans will be asked a few questions about their service history and discharge rating.

• Who can use Employ Florida Vets?

  Anyone may use the veterans' web portal to gain access to information and veteran resources, but only veterans and eligible spouses may receive the full benefit of the employment services offered by the veterans' employment staff at the local CareerSource centers where these services are offered.

• What is Employ Florida?

  Employ Florida is a free state-wide online resource for job listings, education and training opportunities, career building assistance and much more. By registering with Employ Florida and posting your resume, you will be able to access many features and services to help you in your career search.

• What features are available in Employ Florida?

  The following are the features that Employ Florida offers to job seekers:
  • Review and Research Skills – Job seekers can review their current skills, research the skills required for certain jobs, and find places to train for skills needed.
  • Assess Your Interests – Job seekers can assess various aspects of work they are interested in to identify the best possible occupations for their interests.
  • Store Background Information – The system stores information on your skills, work experience, licensing, education, and contact information in your own personal folders. You can use this information to create résumés and letters. This lets you apply for jobs using an online application and create and update your online résumés quickly and efficiently.
  • Research Industries and Employers – Job seekers can discover which industries and employers have positions of interest. This information includes specific details on employers such as name, type of business, and location(s).
  • Search for Job Openings; Create Résumés – Job seekers can review job openings posted by employers, and build attractive résumés and letters to use in pursuing those jobs. The Résumé Builder simplifies the task of creating and changing résumés. Letter Builder guides you in writing cover letters, follow-up letters, and acceptance letters.
  • Create Virtual Recruiters – Use the Virtual Recruiter job alert tool to create and store job searches that run automatically at scheduled intervals and get informed of matching job openings.
  • Get Advice for Job Interviews – The system offers tips and advice about effective interviewing, successful meetings, and job offer negotiations.
  • Save Research History – The system retains records of the careers, training programs, employers, and job openings you have researched.

• How is Employ Florida different from other job search engines?

  Unlike other online job search engines, Employ Florida is free for employers and job seekers and allows you to customize all available features to fit your needs.
