EARLY LEARNING COALITIONS SEEKING A WAIVER OF OR VARIANCE FROM RULE
AWI’s Office of Early Learning (OEL) communicated to early learning coalitions that coalitions may seek waivers of or variances from specific rules and provided the coalitions instructions and sample documents to petition the OEL. Coalitions may request the following:
- A waiver of the requirements of 60BB-8.201(4)(a), F.A.C., which would allow individual VPK providers, instead of a coalition, to conduct a face-to-face parent-orientation or exhibit a parent-orientation video for a parent or group of parents registering their children for the VPK program.
- A variance from the requirements of 60BB-4.210(1), F.A.C., which would allow working families who have a break in employment to remain eligible for school readiness services, provided employment is re-established within the period of time requested by the coalition.
- A variance from the requirements of 60BB4.100(22), F.A.C., to allow a working family, whose hours are reduced by an employer due to circumstances beyond the family’s control, to continue to receive school readiness services as long as the average hours worked per week do not drop below 15.
