Bagdad Village (Santa Rosa County) - Designated: 2005

Located at the confluence of Pond Creek and Blackwater River in Santa Rosa County, Bagdad Village was once home to the largest lumber mill in the Southeastern United States. Along the waterfront, activities included shipbuilding and freight shipment. Because of the village's close proximity to nearly one million acres of public lands and waterways, a new waterfront economy is underway in Bagdad - ecotourism. The local partnership has spearheaded the development of a 20-acre waterfront park in hopes it will be the catalyst for the economic revitalization of its industrial-turned-recreational waterfront.
