- The federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) contains three distinct programs, which are:
- Adult Program – This program targets the general adult population in need of workforce services with priority for services provided to low-income and individuals with barriers to employment.
- Youth Program – this program consists of a Summer Jobs Program initiative and a year-round program offering services to low-income youth ages 14-24.
- Dislocated Worker Program – this program targets individuals who have lost their jobs as a result of a business closure or layoff
- The federal Wagner-Peyser Program provides funding to help support the state’s system of One-Stop Career Centers and the Employ Florida MarketPlace automated job matching system.
- Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) help trade-affected workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States.
