Technical Assistance Grants

The Florida Department of Commerce (FloridaCommerce) wants to encourage and aid eligible applicants to participate in Rebuild Florida disaster recovery programs for Hurricane Michael. FloridaCommerce has contracted with a technical assistance vendor who will assist eligible applicants for Hurricane Michael in the development of their applications for the Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Repair, Voluntary Home Buyout and Hometown Revitalization programs, as well as provide technical assistance to applicants seeking to use CDBG-DR funds as a match for HMGP. FloridaCommerce's technical assistance vendor will assist applicants with identifying, determining cost and writing the scope for projects.

In order to provide local governments with more information about Hurricane Michael Technical Assistance Grants, FloridaCommerce hosted a webinar on October 20, 2020. The recording, slides and transcript are available below.

Eligible Entities

Local governments and municipalities within counties identified by HUD or the state as Most Impacted and Distressed (MID) by Hurricane Michael and classified as Fiscally Constrained are eligible to apply for funding. These counties are:

  • Calhoun
  • Franklin
  • Gadsden
  • Gulf
  • Holmes
  • Jackson
  • Liberty
  • Taylor
  • Wakulla
  • Washington

Eligible Activities

Grant requests may be submitted by eligible entities to receive Technical Assistance in preparing applications for the following Rebuild Florida programs:

  • Rebuild Florida Hometown Revitalization Program
  • Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Repair Program
  • Rebuild Florida Voluntary Home Buyout Program
  • Use of CDBG-DR funds as HMGP match

How to Submit the Grant Request


Please note: This application is intended for units of local government, not for individuals or homeowners. 
 

Grant requests should be submitted using the online application. The online application is brief and can be completed in 15 minutes or less.

Before beginning the application, ensure that you have:

  • Full contact information for the entity for which your are submitting the request
  • The Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) of the entity for which you are submitting the request
  • Contact email addresses for any co-applicant entities that will be included in the application
  • A brief description of the Technical Assistance that you are requesting

Timeline

  • October 5, 2020: Application period opens. The application period is ongoing until funds are exhausted.
  • October 20, 2020: FloridaCommerce hosted a webinar to provide more information about the program.
